Temporal brow lift

As the face ages, the eyebrows droop, wrinkles form around the eyes, and the cheekbone area sinks. This region – the eyebrows, the area around the eyes, and the cheekbones – is closely related. The aesthetic shape and correct position of the eyebrows is an important aspect of a youthful, attractive face, as is the volume in the cheekbone area. A temporal brow lift is a technique that leads to the restoration and preservation of the patient’s original youthful identity in the periorbital area.

Indications

drooping eyebrows, small distance between the eye and eyebrow, asymmetry

Description of the surgical procedure

Consultation

An initial consultation is a very important part of the surgery. The client tells the surgeon the reasons why they decided to undergo the procedure, and the surgeon explains what the client can expect from the surgery, what results are realistic, and advises them on the most suitable procedure for them. During the consultation, the doctor answers all the client’s questions.

Before the procedure

Before each surgery, it is necessary to assess the overall health of each client. With local anesthesia or local anesthesia combined with analgosedation, blood samples can be taken at a laboratory or by a general practitioner or internist.

The procedure

A temporal brow lift is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia or local anesthesia combined with analgosedation and takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. Before the surgery, the client discusses everything with the surgeon once again and then receives premedication. In the operating room, we administer a local anesthetic by injection. This may be slightly uncomfortable, but the injection only takes a moment, and the client feels almost nothing during the subsequent operation. Through a temporal scalp approach using a small incision of about 5 cm, which is only minimally visible, the lateral third of the eyebrow is raised. At the same time, the orbicularis oculi muscle is repositioned, which causes a volume shift in the cheekbone area.

After the procedure

Immediately after the procedure, the scar is covered with a plaster, which is left in place until the stitches are removed. The client leaves the clinic, and it is necessary to have their transport arranged. A 24-hour hotline is available, which the client can contact if necessary. The stitches are absorbable and are trimmed on the seventh day after the surgery. It is crucial to follow a rest regimen for at least three days. Swelling and bruising occur individually and usually last for 1-2 weeks. You can return to normal office work after just a few days. Two weeks after the surgery, the client starts to do gentle pressure massage on the scars and begins to lubricate them with silicone cream. The scars are less visible after two weeks and barely noticeable after a few months, but it is important to take care of them. Pressure massage should be performed twice a day for several months. The postoperative care bag that the client receives from us after the operation contains all the necessary medications and creams.

Results and durability of temporal brow lift

You will see the difference already a week after the procedure, however, the final result will only be visible about 1-2 months after the operation, when the mild swelling subsides. The durability of the results of a direct brow lift depends on age, genetics, and lifestyle. The procedure can also be combined with upper eyelid surgery and lower eyelid surgery or with other rejuvenation procedures in the facial area.

Risks

No surgery is completely risk-free. However, these risks are minimized by a skilled and experienced surgeon, adherence to preoperative instructions, and conscientious postoperative care. The client is informed of the most common risks before surgery.

Frequently asked questions and answers

No, temporal brow lift scars are not typically very visible, they are very inconspicuous, because they are placed within the hairline above the temple area – usually at the border of the forehead and hairline, or a few millimeters into the hair. The incision is approximately 5 cm long and is made to blend in with hair growth or natural creases.

Yes, it is. A temporal brow lift can be combined perfectly with other procedures, such as eyelid surgery, a facelift or a lip lift. This combination results in a more natural-looking and more balanced overall result, as the rejuvenation of individual parts of the face is performed simultaneously in a single operation.

Yes, you will. A temporal brow lift can create a “cat eye“ effect. The “cat eye” effect involves slightly lifting and stretching the outer corners of the eyes and eyebrows upwards and outwards, which visually shapes the eyes into an elegant and youthful appearance. This effect looks very natural and gives the face a subtle “lifted” and refreshed look.

Other procedures

Gliding brow lift

This effective technique uses a subtle incision to elevate the eyebrow back to where it naturally used to be – with ease, without visible marks, but with a striking effect.

Direct brow lift

Properly arched eyebrows frame the face and add freshness and expression to the look. A direct brow lift is an effective procedure that returns the eyebrows to where they used to be before. The result is stable and natural.
