Corner lip lift

The lips significantly affect the appearance of the face as a whole. A corner lip lift is suitable for those clients who always look sad or stern due to wrinkles at the corners of the mouth. It is a procedure that lifts the corners of the lips and makes the face more attractive. The face then looks youthful and satisfied. A corner lip lift can often be performed in combination with a facelift, when the facelift rejuvenates the face, but cannot affect the downward-pointing mouth corners.

Indications

downward-pointing mouth corners, wrinkles at the corners of the mouth, sad expression

Description of the surgical procedure

Consultation

An initial consultation is a very important part of the surgery. The client tells the surgeon the reasons why they decided to undergo the procedure, and the surgeon explains what the client can expect from the surgery, what results are realistic, and advises them on the most suitable procedure for them. During the consultation, the doctor answers all the client’s questions.

Before the procedure

Before each surgery, it is necessary to assess the overall health of each client. With local anesthesia, blood samples can be taken in a laboratory or by a general practitioner or internist.

The procedure

A corner lip lift is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia and takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete. Before the surgery, the surgeon explains everything to the client once again, and the client then receives premedication. In the operating room, we administer a local anesthetic by injection. This may be slightly uncomfortable, but the injection only takes a moment, and the client feels almost nothing during the subsequent operation. The surgeon will remove excess skin in the corners of the mouth, thereby lifting the corners. The wound is closed with a very fine stitch.

After the procedure

Immediately after the procedure, the scar is covered with a plaster, which is left in place until the stitches are removed. The client leaves the clinic immediately after the operation. A 24-hour hotline is available, which the client can cotact if necessary. The stitches are removed on the ninth day after the surgery. It is crucial to maintain a rest regimen for at least three days. Swelling and bruising occur individually and usually last for 1-2 weeks. You can return to normal office work after just a few days. Two weeks after the surgery, the client starts with gentle pressure massages on the scar and begins to lubricate it with silicone cream. The scar is less visible after two weeks and barely noticeable after a few months, but it is important to take care of it. It is advisable to do pressure massage twice a day for several months. The postoperative care bag that the client receives from us after the operation contains all the necessary medications and creams.

Results and durability of corner lip lift

Immediately after the procedure you will see the difference, however, the final result will only be visible approximately 1-2 months after the surgery, when the mild swelling subsides. The durability of the results of a direct lip lift depends on age, genetics, and lifestyle. The procedure can also be combined with other rejuvenation procedures in the facial area, with a classic lip lift.

Risks

No surgery is completely risk-free. However, these risks are minimized by a skilled and experienced surgeon, adherence to preoperative instructions, and conscientious postoperative care. The client is informed of the most common risks before surgery.

Frequently asked questions and answers

The scar from a corner lip lift (lifting the mouth corners) may be slightly visible, but if performed and healed properly, it is usually inconspicuous or almost invisible. It is important to follow post-operative care and protect the area from the sun to ensure optimal healing.

The difference between a classic lip lift and a corner lip lift lies mainly in the purpose of the procedure, the area affected and the aesthetic result. They are two different types of surgical techniques, which can, however, be combined in some cases.

A classic lip lift adjusts the area under the nose and the upper lip – shortening its length and emphasizing the red part. A corner lip lift, on the other hand, focuses on lifting the corners of the mouth, which helps to eliminate a sad or tired-looking expression.

Yes, they can be combined – for example if the client needs to shorten the distance under the nose and at the same time lift the corners of the mouth or adjust the shape of the upper lip. The surgeon will evaluate which combination is suitable with regard to the final effect and minimal visibility of scars. The combination can be planned so that the procedures complement each other and enhance the overall appearance of the lips and smile.
